The tree that fed the silk trade.
In 1608, King James I planted mulberry trees by his palace in London, hoping to start an English silk industry. He planted black mulberries by mistake, and the silk plan failed. The fruit, on the other hand, was a hit. Some of London's old mulberry trees may date from that time.
Ripe Mulberry is that happy accident in a jar. Sweet-tart mulberries, plump raspberry and woodland strawberry, a breath of rose through the middle, all resting on soft musk, warm wood and vanilla.
